The founder of Gold Leaf Estate Planning, LLC, Zachary Wiegand focuses his practice on estate planning and administration. From the firm's offices in Burnsville, Minnesota, he provides representation to clients throughout Dakota, Ramsey, Washington and Hennepin counties and other parts of the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area. Mr. Wiegand has been admitted to practice before all Minnesota state courts since 2011.
In his estate planning practice, Mr. Wiegand regularly prepares and reviews last wills and testaments, revocable and irrevocable trusts, financial and health care powers of attorney, and advance medical directives. Knowing that there is no one size that fits all, he tailors each plan to the individual needs and objectives of every client, often with the goals of avoiding probate and minimizing state and federal estate taxes. For those of his clients whose loved ones passed away with a valid will in place, Mr. Wiegand guides them through what can often be a lengthy and complex probate process. He provides them, as well as executors, with advice and counsel on the tax returns and other forms that have to be filed and with respect to the payment of creditors' claims and the ultimate distribution of the estate's assets to their rightful beneficiaries. The high quality of his work has earned Mr. Wiegand a great deal of recognition from his fellow members of the bar, including a "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.
As an undergraduate, Mr. Wiegand attended Norwich University in Vermont, where he was a member of the school's varsity ice hockey team before receiving a Bachelor of Arts in history magna cum laude in 2006. He then pursued his legal education at what was then known as William Mitchell College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2010.
