Buneka Islam focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning and litigation. She enjoys educating families and young professionals on the importance of having a proper estate plan. She has conducted presentations before diverse audiences on how to protect one?s family and loved ones with proper estate planning and dispelling myths and misconceptions around trusts and estates.
In the area of estates litigation, Buneka effectively leverages her strong background in litigation. Prior to joining Maloles Law, Buneka practiced securities and corporate litigation at a prestigious firm in Wilmington, Delaware. She was also a judicial intern for the Honorable Dolores K. Sloviter, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Buneka interned at the Small Business Development Center at Temple University, helping small business owners address legal issues including choice of entity, operating agreements, and local licensing regulations.
Buneka graduated cum laude from the Temple University School of Law where she was a member of the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review and completed the Integrated Trial Advocacy Program. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. She is a member of the Education Committee of the Probate Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Buneka received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In her spare time, she serves as the Co-Chair of the Professional Women?s Committee at the Pyramid Club of Philadelphia and is also a member of the Junior League of Philadelphia. She is also an active volunteer at Philadelphia VIP, helping indigent clients with their legal needs.
