A partner at Brown, Bauman & Smith, A Professional Corporation, located in Tyler, Texas, H.C. "Chuck" Bauman, III, was the first East Texas lawyer to become a certified Elder Law Attorney as designated by the National Elder Law Foundation. Mr. Bauman represents clients throughout the area on end-of-life and estate planning issues, and his practice also includes nursing home rights, probate, trusts, business succession and preservation of assets. He also has experience in arranging guardianships for minor children, the drafting of living wills and physician directives and the preparation of medical powers of attorney.
After graduating from Baylor University with his Bachelor of Arts in 1989, Mr. Bauman went on to attend Baylor Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1992. Before joining Brown, Bauman & Smith, A Professional Corporation, he was an assistant district attorney in Smith County while also serving as a legal adviser in Smith County Court. Admitted to practice in Texas, Mr. Bauman is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
An active participant in several professional and community organizations, Mr. Bauman has served as president of the Smith County Young Lawyers Association, The Rotary Club of Tyler and the Texas chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, where he is currently still a member. He is also a member of the Smith County Bar Association and the East Texas Estate Planning Council, where he has also been a board member in the past. Mr. Bauman also serves as a deacon and youth ministry volunteer at Green Acres Baptist Church.
