Patrick J. Bushell is an Illinois State University graduate with a B.A. in philosophy. He later went on to The John Marshall Law School and graduated cum laude in 2013. During that time, he was regularly recognized for being on the Dean's list and even received multiple CALI Achievement Awards for excellence in Federal Individual Income Tax, Environmental Law, and Secured Transactions. Patrick was also a Lead Articles Editor for The John Marshall Law Review Board and finished 1st Place in the Albert R. Mugel National Tax Moot Court Competition in Buffalo, New York.
Patrick was licensed to practice law in 2013 and is currently an Associate Attorney for Peck Ritchey, LLC. Patrick's practice is focused on helping clients with Estate and Trust Litigation matters including will and trust contests, asset recovery, prosecuting against fiduciary misconduct and fiduciary defense; Guardianship matters including both contested and uncontested guardianshipships for individuals with disabilities; Elder Law matters including obtaining remedies for older individuals who are victims of financial exploitation; and general Estate Administration matters. Patrick has a passion for ensuring clients' and their loved ones' are properly taken care of, and that their assets are handled properly and distributed in furtherance of their wishes.
Outside of his law practice with Peck Ritchey, LLC, Patrick is an active member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Patrick is a Co-Chair of the Serving Our Seniors Committee with the Young Lawyers Division of the Chicago Bar Association. As Co-Chair of the Serving Our Senior Committee, Patrick assists with recruiting pro bono attorneys to assist older individuals with executing simple estate planning documents such as power of attorney and advanced directives. Patrick is also an active partipantant in various programs with The John Marshall Law School.
