Brandy is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Her practice is dedicated to litigation involving estates, trusts, and fiduciaries, such as executors and trustees. This particular area of litigation often involves will contests or breaches of fiduciary litigation, but it can also involve contested guardianship matters or accountings. These areas of litigation are governed by the Texas Estates Code or the Texas Trust Code.
Brandy earned her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University (now Texas A&M University School of Law), graduating in the top 15% of her law school class. She served two years on Law Review and was elected as an Editor in her second year. Throughout law school she worked for various firms and in her third year clerked for the Chief Justice of the Second Court of Appeals, Hon. John Cayce. In 1999, she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in International Relations from Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
As a native Texan and life-long resident of Dallas County, she grew up with a family of business owners and operated her own law practice for many years. Currently, Ms. Baxter-Thompson is a partner with the law firm of Lan Smith Sosolik PLLC.
