Shayna W. Borakove

Shayna W. Borakove is a co-founder of Borakove Osman LLC. Located in Madison, Wisconsin, she focuses her practice primarily on sophisticated estate planning and business planning, assisting clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. In addition, Ms. Borakove has experience in family law matters such as the preparation and review of prenuptial, post-marital and property division agreements, and her background also includes real estate transactions. Admitted to practice before all Wisconsin state courts, she is also admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Minnesota.

In her estate planning practice, Ms. Borakove regularly prepares and reviews wills, revocable living trusts and irrevocable trusts, advance health care directives, and financial and health care powers of attorney. She evaluates her clients' goals and family situations, and she endeavors to design a plan that will preserve and protect their assets. These plans will often incorporate a client's charitable giving wishes, and in some cases, they are drafted in order to avoid the expense and public nature of the probate process.

Ms. Borakove's business practice encompasses assisting prospective entrepreneurs as well as owners of farms and other existing small companies. For clients who are considering starting a new venture, she first determines what legal entity would be most advisable, and after filing the organizational paperwork, she reviews lease agreements and drafts other business contracts while helping to ensure that all necessary records are properly prepared and maintained and all applicable governmental regulations are complied with.

Majoring in political science, Ms. Borakove attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City and received a Bachelor of Arts in 2001. Her legal education came at what was then known as the New England School of Law, and she was the managing editor of the New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement before being awarded her Juris Doctor in 2005.
